Below you will find a detailed explanation of how our LEDsGame scoreboard emulator works.

Before you start playing

  • Connect to a Wi-Fi network

If the connection mode you want to use is Wi-Fi (see Connection modes in the System configuration section of the Help), you must connect both your mobile and your watches to the same Wi-Fi network, so the apps can connect to each other. This way, you can keep score and execute actions from the watches.

  • Connect the Bluetooth speaker

You must connect the speaker to your mobile so the voice of the virtual Umpire can be heard clearly on the court.

  • Select the connection mode

You must open the MTP Emulator app on your mobile and watches. Then, you must execute the Watch connection action (mobile app) and the Connection action (watch app) to select the connection mode between the apps you want to use.

  • Connect the apps to each other

You must execute the Connect to watch action (mobile app) and the Connect action (watch app) to connect the apps. If the chosen connection mode is Wi-Fi, you can also execute the Connect to 2nd watch action (mobile app) and the Connect action (watch app) to connect a second watch app. From now on, you can keep score and execute actions from the watches.

Beginning of the match

  • Reset the scoreboard

You must execute the Reset action to reset the scoreboard to zero and begin a new match.

Players selection to keep score for when tapping the screen

You must execute the Player selection action to choose which players or pairs you will keep score for when you tap on the screen.

  • Multiplayer

The screen will be split in two. The top (red border) will be used to keep score for player or pair A. The bottom (blue border) will be used to keep score for player or pair B.

  • Player A

Full screen (red border) will be used to keep score for player or pair A.

  • Player B

Full screen (blue border) will be used to keep score for player or pair B.

Game mode settings (only at the beginning of a set)

  • Normal mode by default

After executing a Reset action, the score mode is set to normal (score 00, 15, 30, 40 and advantage) and the number of games per set is also normal (6 games by default).

  • Change the scoring mode

If you want to play current and following games in Tie-Break (7 points by default) or super Tie-Break (10 points by default) format, you must execute the Scoring mode action and select the desired mode.

The scoreboard will set the corresponding indicators: TB y STB indicators Off for normal mode activated, TB indicator On for Tie-Break mode activated and STB indicator On for super Tie-Break mode activated.

  • Change the number of games per set

If you want to change the number of games per set of current and following sets, you must execute the Games per set action and select normal games per set (6 games by default) or alternate games per set (4 games by default).

Game progress

By default, the first "player or pair" (from now on "player" to abbreviate) to serve is the player A (player A service indicator On). If you wish to make player B the first player to serve, you can switch it by executing the Initial Serving action or by swiping left on the screen.

Each time a player wins a point, that player should increase his score by tapping on the screen (tap the red bordered area on the screen to increase player A points or tap the blue bordered area on the screen to increase player B points).

If you make a mistake, you may undo last point increment (10 levels max) by swiping left on the screen.

Usually, when the score reaches 40 all, the game will only be won when one of the players wins two consecutive points. On the contrary, if Sudden death mode has been enabled, the game will end after playing a single additional point when the configured number of deuce is reached.

After a game is finished, the scoreboard increases the number of games of the game winner in the current set and starts a new game with 00-00. If the game won finishes current set, the scoreboard will turn on the set won indicator of the corresponding player and set and starts a new set with 0-0. If the game won, additionally, finishes the match, the scoreboard will turn off service, TB and STB indicators and current game points numbers of both players to indicate the end of the match. At this point, the scoreboard will only allow the execution of the Reset action or an undo of the last increment of points.

If the number of games per set is 9, it would be possible to reach game 10 in a set. In this case, 10 is represented by "b" in the set digit of the scoreboard.

The scoreboard always shows which player must serve current point, turning on the service indicator corresponding to that player.

End of the match

  • Disconnect the apps

You must execute the Disconnect from watch / Disconnect from watches action from the mobile app or the Disconnect action from the watch apps to finish the active connections between the apps. This will close the communication services and save battery life on all devices.

Tie-Break or super Tie-Break games

A game will be played under Tie-Break rules when both players reach the number of games per set established in the scoreboard (6 games by default in normal games mode or 4 games by default in alternate games mode). If the Tie‑break advanced mode has been enabled, the Tie-Break will be played one game earlier. A Tie-Break (7 points by default) or a super Tie-Break (10 points by default) can also be manually forced to be played at the beginning of a set, executing the Scoring mode action.

Whatever the case, the scoreboard will display the current Tie-Break mode turning on the corresponding Tie-Break indicator and will control the service turning on the corresponding player service indicator for each point.

Usually, when both players reach one point less than the points stablished for the Tie-Break or super Tie-Break, the game will only be won when one of the players wins two consecutive points. On the contrary, if Sudden death in Tie-Break mode has been enabled, the game will end after playing a single additional point.

Once the Tie-Break ends, the current set is over and the scoreboard will be updated accordingly, starting the next set or ending the match if this is the case.

One set matches

When the scoreboard is configured to play one set matches, the number of games each player wins will be displayed using both set 1 and set 2 corresponding player digits on the mobile screen. On the watch screen it will be displayed using the current set games double digit.

One set matches can be played with games limit (from 2 to 99 games), with time limit (from 1' to 9h:59') or with games limit and time limit simultaneously (whichever comes first), according to the scoreboard configuration.

If a one set match with games limit is played, the scoreboard will finish the match when a player wins the set depending on the number of games established.

If a one set match with time limit is played, the scoreboard will notify the conclusion of the established game time by displaying "t" flashing in the set 3 digits of both players on the mobile screen (or in the time out indicator digit on the watch screen), but the match will not end. This way, the scoreboard allows players to choose whether the match should end as soon as time expires or the point currently in play should be finished, as well as playing an additional point in the event of a tie. The maximum number of games is 99.

The timer for one set matches with time limit will start each time a Reset action is executed. The set 3 won indicator of both players will be flashing while the timer is on.

Under some circumstances it would be possible to reach game 100 in the set. In these cases, 100 is represented by "b" in the set 1 digit and "0" in the set 2 digit on the mobile screen. On the watch screen it will be displayed "b0" in the current set games double digit.

Watches special features

To save power, the screen will be turned black after a few seconds of inactivity and it will be displayed the message Tap to resume. To execute any action, you must first tap the screen to display the score again.

If the mobile is not yet connected, a flashing red disconnection icon will be displayed on the screen to indicate that no actions can be executed to change the score.

Ideally, if you have two watches available on the court (one for each player in singles or one for each pair in doubles), each opponent should select a different player executing the Player selection action and keep score for their own points or their pair’s points.

On the other hand, if you only have a single watch on the court, the player who is wearing it must keep score for all points, both their own points (pair’s points) and their opponent’s points (opponent pair’s points). To do this, the Multiplayer option must be selected executing the Player selection action.
